OMER Award presented to Primary Team!

Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School sent four teams to Rocky Mount on Saturday, March 14, 2009, to compete in this year's Coastal Region Odyssey of the Mind competition.  "Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college." Students in Division I showed this great problem solving in their performances in "The Lost Labor of Heracles," "Earth Trek," and "Teach Yer Creature."  The Primary Team performed the problem, "Candy Factory."

During the awards ceremony, Clyde Erwin's Primary Team was presented with an OMER award.  The certificate reads that this team was presented this award "for meeting and exceeding the goals of the Odyssey of the Mind creative problem-solving competition."  Tim Cornell, Regional Co-Director, announced that their actions were amazing for their age. The team was noted for their compassion when a teammate was sick, and their commitment to learning their lines and finishing their props without their coach when she was out with an illness. This award was a first for Clyde Erwin and was greatly deserved! Congratulations Primary Team!
