A Gift of Words for Third-Graders
|
On Friday, October 10th, the third-grade students at Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School were treated to a special gift - the gift of our English language. Members of the Rotary of Jacksonville gave each student a dictionary. Rotary member, Mr. Darner, spoke to the students and explained what the Rotary was all about and why they give out dictionaries to all third-graders. He further explained the history of the dictionary and the significance of the picture on the back of the dictionary that the Rotary was giving out. Along with the dictionary, students also received a certificate to Golden Corral. The third-graders were very grateful for the dictionaries that can, as Mr. Darner pointed out, "carry you through your education through graduation." The students presented the Rotarians with letters and a card thanking them for their kindness and generous gifts. Thank you Rotary of Jacksonville for being a great partner in education and making a difference in the lives of children.
